The Virginia Aviation Council is managed by a Board of Directors, including a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Any person supporting the goals of the Council may seek to become a Member of the Council by notifying the Secretary of their desire. This is a working Board of Directors who serve as a source for volunteer energy in all activities of the organization.
The Board Directors must be willing to participate in a governing Board as well. Individuals applying to become a Director must do so by written notice to the Secretary of the Council. The Board of Directors will vote to accept or reject the application of each candidate. Persons interested in serving as Directors may, in particular, nominate themselves prior to or at the January Annual Meeting by writing a one-paragraph description of what you would bring to the table as a Director.
The Board of Directors selects from among its Directors the Officers of the Council. The Board of Directors (Officers and Directors) are elected to staggered two-year terms with an election of approximately half the Board each year.
We are always looking for new blood in the organization. Your involvement does not come with any pre-qualifications other than an interest in growing aviation in Virginia. If you are interested, please join us at any of our meetings to learn more and begin participating.
